May 14, 2013 - I listen to this in the morning, so I can sing along. My parents were Dubliners, and they've both gone now, this reconnects me to them. God rest their souls.
May 10, 2013 - Why not it was Peggy Duignan who did the dirty the fact that this man came from Nigearia was neither here nor there.
Anyway the real Sean Duignan ended his days in Canada with an Indian by all accounts

Apr 14, 2013 - Ronnie's handshake was firm & sincere, He asked me my name & also my friend, Liam, and he kept chatting to us for ages, while we waited for our better halves to emerge . He told us the history behind 'Raglan road', and about his friend, Paddy Kavenagh showing the poem to Benedict Kiely while they were all having a pint with Luke Kelly. Kiely noticed that the poem fitted perfectly into 'Fáinne geal an lae'
Luke slowed it down & sang it there & then....Those were the days...Legend.
Apr 14, 2013 - Ronnie had a great friend called Antonio Breskie, and drove him & his band to Listowel, Co. Kerry, where they were performing in St. John's.
My friends & I went to that concert, but never knew about Ronnie being there.
At the intermission, He came on stage to sing a few songs, He was brilliant, - just on his own, no backing.
Among several classics, he sang 'Raglan road', I pray to this day that someone recorded it, because I've never heard better, I shook his hand after & thanked him...cont'd
Apr 11, 2013 - Dude it's like that all over the world in all the cities, you do realize he's lamenting the fact that Dublin has become like that? The countryside in America and in Ireland are still pretty conservative and nice places, the cities is where the kooks tend to congregate I think it's the anonymity factor plus jobs.
Apr 10, 2013 - Such a misfortune to have been born a yank and miss out on such deep rooted cultural traditions and identity. Damn my ancestors for leaving the emerald isle and the land of alba. I'll never know what it is to have a real homeland and a people to call my own. Do your future generations a favor and never forget your homeland or abandon it because of economic woes...
