Jun 5, 2012 - You are right there Bob. William Reid wrote Drop in 1989 and it appeared on the C.D. release of Automatic, JAMC's third album, but not on the vinyl copy. Jim Reid's American drawl was a refreshing antidote to the majority of shit music that was being played in the mid - late 1980's, and you can still hear his Scots accent in there. JAMC saved Rock n Roll in Britain and their influence is massive to this day. A whole lot of people owe them a huge thank you, me being one of them...

Feb 23, 2011 - I'm sure you're right. I'm not as knowledgeable about JAMC as you likely are. I know more about Hope. But I should also correct something else I see I wrote here. I believe I'm wrong about Hope co-writing "Drop". I think I later saw a writing credit that credited William Reid only. So she did it on her own album as a cover. But I still believe she co-wrote the two JAMC songs she performed with them, "Perfume" & "Sometimes Always'. Meow!

Bobjb999 Says:

Dec 17, 2010 - Hope Sandoval co-wrote this song when she&William Reid were a couple in the '90s.She wrote lyrics&likely vocal melody. She sings it on her own album "Bavarian Fruit Bread".I love her other two other collabs. with JAMC she co-wrote &sang with the band: "Sometimes Always"&the eccentric "Perfume" where cat-lover(&cat wannabe?)Hope doesn't sing so much as Meows,cat-like,in a weird duet with Jim! I wish Jim wasn't so ashamed of his Scottish accent that he adopted a fake American drawl for singing.
